Why do I need to verify my identity to host Paid Linkups?

Because money is changing hands, the law requires us and our payment provider, Ryft, to check who you are before you can receive payments. These are called “know your customer” (KYC) checks, and “know your business” (KYB) checks for businesses. They help prevent fraud, money laundering and scams.

You’ll usually be asked for:

• your full legal name, date of birth and home address
• a photo of an identity document, like a passport or driving licence
• your bank details for payouts
• if you’re a business: your company details and who owns it

The checks are carried out by Ryft. We only receive the result and the information we need.

You don’t need to take a selfie for this. The selfie on Linkup is only for the verified badge on your profile, which is separate.
