Information for law enforcement
This page is for police and other law enforcement agencies. If you use Linkup and need help, see How do I report someone or something? instead.
Linkup is run by Linkup Social Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 13498608). We cooperate with law enforcement and take the safety of the people who use Linkup seriously.
How to contact us
Email support@linkupapp.io with “Law Enforcement Request” in the subject. Please send it from an official agency email address and include:
- your name, rank or title, agency and contact details
- the legal basis for the request, with a copy of any warrant, court order or other legal process
- the Linkup account(s) concerned, such as a username, phone number, email or profile link
- the specific information you need, and the time period it covers
What we can provide
Depending on the request and applicable law, we may preserve and disclose account information, profile content, messages and transaction records. We review every request and respond in line with applicable law, including UK data protection law.
Preservation requests
We can preserve records relevant to an official investigation while you get formal legal process. Send a preservation request to the email above with the same details.
Emergencies
If there’s a risk of death or serious physical harm, put “Emergency” in the subject and explain the nature of the emergency. We prioritise these requests and may disclose information without formal legal process where the law allows.
What we report proactively
Where we become aware of information suggesting a crime involving a threat to someone’s life or safety, we inform the relevant authorities. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Internet Watch Foundation and the police. See Our zero-tolerance policy.
User notice
We may tell users about requests for their information, unless we’re legally prohibited from doing so or doing so would put someone at risk or harm an investigation.
More detail is in Section 18 of our Terms of Use.
